Martin Food Equipment recently joined forces with a selection of Ireland’s finest food suppliers to host an Italian Inspired Workshop at our Innovation Centre in Dundalk. Inspired by the flavours of Italy, we created a casual dining menu of Mediterranean style dishes. Our talented chefs demonstrated how quick, easy and profitable it is to add authentic Italian pizza, gelato, pasta and gourmet sandwiches to your menu.
Neapolitan-style pizza was cooked from fresh in just 90 seconds in the TurboChef conveyor oven and topped with a delicious selection of ingredients supplied by Crust and Crumb. Italian-style gourmet sandwiches were toasted to perfection in the new TurboChef Bullet rapid-cook oven. John Gardner, executive chef with TurboChef said: “Irish retailers, Martin Food Equipment and all our great Irish artisan suppliers are at the forefront in modern food-to-go and they compare favourably with any other country in the world.”
Italian-style artisan breads were showcased by our fantastic food partner and ingredients supplier Puratos. Workshop participants sampled a range of pesto, olive, focaccia and ciabatta breads, ideal both as a snack or main meal,
Fresh salads were also on the menu, with a huge range of locally sourced ingredients to choose from, including an assortment of delicious sauces from Blenders. Healthier food choices are becoming increasingly popular amongst Irish consumers and trends like ‘clean-eating’ are showing no signs of slowing down. In order to meet this growing demand, our chopped salad station has been designed to easily fit into any retail deli offering.
Our Italian day wouldn’t have been complete, of course, without some Italian style gelato. Presented in the beautiful Ifi Cloud & Ifi Panorama, our gelato expert Ingrid showed how easy it is to create delicious Italian style sorbet and gelato using our range of Carpigiani batch freezers (we even added in a few spooky creations, the perfect addition to any ice cream cabinet this Halloween).
